Jennifer Lawson, Ph.D.
Dr. Jennifer Lawson researches theories and practices to promote educational growth and uses them to support student learning in K-12 schools. Her passion is in educational growth and self-defined student success. All students have the ability to succeed, and Jennifer believes that our job, as educators, is to guide students as they grow, discover their passions, and become life-long learners. She is able to support educators and students as an instructional coach for one of the largest school districts in California, focusing on Common Core literacy in all subject areas, and as a speaker for MindsetWorks.
Jennifer has 11 years of educational experience in the K-12 system as a classroom English and AVID teacher, instructional coach, Summer School administrator, and consultant for MindsetWorks. She has also consulted on projects within the Smarter Balanced Digital Library, AVID Center, and other literacy support programs. Much of Jennifer’s current work is to provide professional development to teachers and administrators as teachers continue to implement Common Core literacy standards and support their students’ literacy development and mindset growth. Recently, Jennifer has joined the team at Mindset Works to collaborate on curriculum and professional development.
Dr. Lawson constantly seeks opportunities for professional growth and to inspire others, including her two young daughters. She encourages their growth mindset development and encourages them to see the beauty and opportunity in each experience. Although newly introduced to Mindset Works and Brainology, Jennifer recognizes that this is not a passing educational fad, but a way of life.
